Extreme Cranial Swelling-Graphic pics

That is good to hear that you never saw it again. It really seems to be the same thing to me, all the symptoms match.
I only have 4 prednisone 20mg ea. Do you remember the dosage you gave him?

WEEK 1 : 2.5mg per day WEEK 2 : 5mg per day WEEK 3 : 2.5mg per day WEEK 4: 1mg per day.

You can also give 1 Bayer baby aspirin to try to reduce the swelling before you try the prednisone if you havent already
I would start with 2.5 mg then after 2-3 weeks, go down gradually in dosage each day for 3-4 days--say 2mg, then 1.5mg, then 1mg, then 0.5mg, and then stop. Prednisone should always start with the higher dose and be decreased gradually. Never stop it suddenly. With 20 mg tablets, you could dissolve 1 in 4 ml of water, draw it up in a needless syringe, and after shaking the syringe to mix each time, 1/2 ml would equal 2.5 mg.

Eggcessive is correct, doses start off higher and are tapered off. As for what the correct dose might be, i haven't a clue, but will look that up later. Probably a medication one should give under the supervision of a veterinarian. :D

For wry neck some sources recommend 2.5 mg for a 2 pound chicken, and I think that would be about right for a 5 pound chicken as well. In my opinio 5 mg would be too much for a chicken, but I'm not an expert or a vet. I have given my 15 pound dog 5 mg daily for allergies.

Based on what I just looked up, it seems that it's not more than 2.5mg per 2.2 pounds, but I'm not a vet either. On iPad and can't post pictures or links easily, but will post dosing info from Plum's and the avian medicine books later from a computer.:D
