Hi! I have three Silver Laced Wyandottes that I got at 3 months old. They are now 5 months old.

I also have full grown Sex Links. My Sex Links have wattles and combs, are hens and are laying.

My Wyandottes have not started laying yet, have wattles and close-to-the-head combs. One of my Sex Link girls "crows" sometimes. I have read that this is normal. Today, "Raquel", one of my Wyandottes crowed several times. Uh oh.

Is Raquel a roo? Or is she just making noise?

One of the three Wyandottes is one week younger and has NO comb an NO wattles. The other two do.

Opinions? Help, help, help!
 
Oooohhh, no. No chance of hens having those more pronounced feathers, huh. I was afraid of that.

We live in a neighborhood and can't have roosters crowing. Doggone it.

I have two SLW hens. What sold their gender for me was the feathering. Could depend on the cross or hatchery, SLW is not a breed you can judge on comb and waddles. It's all in the feathering (more white throughout back and chest, dead giveaway) The pullets tend to lace quite nicely by 5 months. That'll be your judgment age for this breed.

I was certain for a while I had one pullet and a cockerel cus I thought I heard a "crow" in the morning. Turns out it was the egg song, and their morning chit chat when I come to the coop to feed them. If its a Crow like you described... chances are its a crow as in rooster crow!
