Homemade chick starter recipe

Wow, you are making me homesick! (grew up in WA and AK) my chickens would love some kelp! Sounds like you have it covered! Cordova is so rural, (my dad and brother hunt there) how do you keep them safe or get them for that matter?

We put up a pretty good fence and mesh screening to keep out the riffraff. The only pests I've had to worry about so far are neighborhood dogs taking too much interest in their run and a raven or crow every now and then waiting to sweep up whatever scratch they miss. I haven't seen many lately though since the rooster got so big. He's good about protecting his girls. I've seen him chase off a crow or two and then the hens got the idea and followed suit. Oh yeah, trapped a gray jay that was stealing food outta their coop. Just shut the door on him. He flew into that big window pretty hard a few times. I felt bad and let him out, but I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson. Never saw him after that.

Here's some photos. Collecting pop weed for them out at Hartney Bay, and some from when we had snow. It's 55degrees out right now, in January, IN AK!!!

Great pixs! I miss the Jays and their squawking. It is 10 today in MS, my dad is flying down on the 5th from Palmer to get some warmer weather ha.....
