How would you get rid of coyotes?

do you think you can find a meremera? sp

Just coyotes are smarter than dogs if they see weakness in the dog and realize its not a real killer they will press the attack anyway

The meramera working dogs seem very serious if you can find one? also anatolian shepherds? OR cao or cos? komadors have thick protection and are very aggresssive. They have thick protection bites do not make it through a komdaors thick hide. Make sure the dog was not bred for show and was bred for serious guarding never for pets either.

There are some very strong german sheps and rotties that can do it also and some big mutts. But the LGD seem better.

I find german sheps and rotties work iin pairs the best. IF it is a large area out in the country. A LGD can work with a good lama or something. Or it can work with another breed thats not as powerful. As long as these just coyotes not pumas or wolves.

if you have a big dog with them a couple of mini donkey will be okay i think as long as the dog is always there because their kicks will be reinforced by a beastly face full of giant bites. It will just be a ugly place for coyotes to be. Even emus or something with the big mean dog. As long as the dog is there to reinforce the emus attacks the place will be a horrible place for coyote predation. The dog will ruin everything but other species like emu mini donkey will be there also helping out.

Alpacas aslo.

Problems happen when these animals are left alone without a strong dog to defend them then they are easily outsmarted and killed by coyotes. But when they have a beast of a dog fighting wiwth them they are very effective animals to have around to help the dog out. Think of them as side kicks lol

They will get courage from a strong dog and help out also. Its best to fight teeth with bigger teeth.

Depends upon where you release. I live in a National Forest and we have plenty of locations where there are not people or not people with chickens/ livestock. In fact, most people have some horses and call it a farm. There is room on the planet for the billions of us and a few animals too. Wild animals must feel under constant siege.

I have lots of coyotes, coons, opossums, bobcat, black bear and in winter, even Golden Eagles. I also free range my geese and chickens and do not have losses. I use dogs and a donkey. The predators are all about but stay off my place. I also leave plenty of prey (the squirrels, deer, turkey) so there is plenty of wild prey to eat for the predators -- I don't take that away as I raise domestic animals for my meat (that is the point) & enough habitat around me.
Two of my five dogs:

And Donkey with cow, bull (proud parents) and their newborn calf (all 3 are protective of calf) -- what's going to mess with this trio?

Yes very smart idea dogs no matter the breed always get courage in numbers or small packs i love the first dog btw lol I don't think much is going to want to walk by him hes a beast. I agree no dog or dogs or coyotes is going to dare get in that fenced yard unless they are suicidal, that donkey looks scary also. So do the cows.

I would not get an Anatolian, too agressive. You would have to be worried about controling a huge agressive dog and keeping it from attacking people. They have their place but in my opinion (from what I have read) I wouldn't want one on a small place with close neighbors. I would go with one of the others.

some are very aggressive some arent that bad depends just like co or cAO, remember these dogs are not suppose to leave their land and should be fenced in, after a while they won't want to leave their land. There are a lot of great anatolions. I mean i would not go in and pet them. But I would not go in and pet any territorial dog not even a border collie. A lot of dogs can get pretty aggressive in someone trys to get in the fenced yard when the owner is not there specially if the dogs are in pairs or packs. I have seen a cattle dog tear into a person pretty bad before.

I'm being extra cautious with the kids. The coyotes are 20ft from our house hunting during the day. I know it's unlikely the kids get bit, but I'm not taking chances.

They attacked my flock with me just feet away. I've also had fox come up to me less then 5ft away when camping.

Not to scare you, but children under 5 feet tall can be eaten by a coyote. Coyotes will attack children. Definitely keep them inside until the yotes are gone.

how many children have been killed by coyotes in the last hundred years? I think about 1 in total? considering the million coyotes out there? Compare that to the amount of children killed by their own mothers and fathers. Kids are more likely to be taken by a person.

26 people are killed by dogs in america alone every year. Wow that is shocking I did not think death from dog was that high, many adults are killed by dogs also. THird world country if a dog kills an intruder people dont really care as much and it goes unreported.

Actually coyote attacks on children are very common. Two have happened near me in the last few months. A little girl was dragged away standing right next to her parents and they chased the yote down until they could get her. They were in a cemetery. She is in critical condition and lucky to be alive. Another little boy was killed in his own fenced in back yard. Do your research, it's very common. Especially in area where there is population explosions. I live in Michigan and this is one of the worst years for coyote and fox right now. When populations of coyotes go up, attacks do as well because they force themselves into human populated areas. And I'm sure there are plenty of other cases where children have gone missing and it had ended up being coyotes. A lot of coyotes in the northern part of the state are coyote/wolf hybrids and are larger than the standard coyote and have the aggressiveness of a wolf. Coyotes are very organized pack animals and can and will kill small children. They shouldn't be underestimated in those circumstances.
