If sewing is the only issue you can use super glue sparingly to close the incision you make. You'll need a helper and very long tweezers. I've done my own crop surgery with my husband as assistant and she did well as soon as I got the blockage out.

A skin anesthetic that some have used is Campho Phenique gel for cold sores. After trimming a few feathers from her crop area you can apply this in a moderately thick layer and just before the incision rub it off. You don't want to get it under her skin.

Is there anyone near Buna Texas that can help this person with crop surgery?

There are quite a few excellent descriptions on this site for crop surgery. They include pictures. If you want to PM me with your phone number I could call you and would be happy to talk to you answer any questions.

You're in a tough spot. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you! The surgery doesnt scare me terribly (i hunt....so anatomy isnt lost on me). My hubby makes a good assistant so if it comes to that i should be set now that i know how to numb it. Campho phenique is always on hand (it also treats athletes foot!) .

She is much brighter this evening (i shot a squirrel and fed them chopped organ meat. She REALLY liked that....frighteningly so). Hopefully we wont have to redort to cutting-but she has until saturday to dramatically improve or ill make the choice

UPDATE********

I think we are in the clear! Her crop is emptying much better now and she is eating with much more enthusiasm!

The drizzle of olive oil twice a day while nassaging her crop seemed to help. I could feel the blockage, so i made sure to gently stir it up. Shes fat and happy these days
