I have a 11 hens, and 6 Roosters.....I call them mutts. They were suposed to be Rhode Island Reds. They are pretty...but mutts..my question is....my nest boxes are about 16 inches from the floor...my hens are just about a year old..and lay well...however...when and IF they nest..are the nest boxes too high in the air? Can I leave them in the coop with the other hens and roosters or should I take the hatchlings out?

It is always better to isolate a mother hen and her chicks from the rest of the flock.  The others my not take too friendly to the new mother and her chicks.  Some will peck and kill the little biddies.  It's too chancey!  Johnny
