Hi! I just joined but I have been reading post for a while. I have 10 hens and one very sweet silkie rooster. We have 2 golden comets(laying), 1 Rhode Island Red (maybe laid 1st egg today), 1 barred rock (also might have started laying today), 1 Easter egger (maybe started too), 2 mutts and 3 blak sex link (we call them chicklets). I have two sons 7 and 1 and my husband that all help us! I am hoping for some suggestions about making my coop prepared for winter as it is getting cold some nights up here in Vermont! Thank you!

If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum, you can locate and post on your state thread. People in your area(climate) can best tell you what to do for winter.

Hi and :welcome

I also live somewhere very warm so I don't have any tips, but good luck!
I hear lots of stories about grown chickens coping fine with the cold though, even in the middle of winter. :)
