The Joys of Owning Imported Orpingtons

I don't think they cared..

Uhm I would be upset.

yeah.. I was too.. but at least the eggs were fertile for these.. a few batches were total duds.. no blood rings.. no growth at all and arrived in great shape... for all I know those "Jubilee" eggs were Walmart specials..
one seller didn't even have a rooster (which I didn't find out until later) but swore she hatched out the eggs just fine.. her reasoning for not having a roo was that she didn't want "rooster eggs"

.. the Coronation Sussex eggs I got from her at the same time (but in a different box) were also all clears.. she's no longer a registered member on eBay.. so I guess only she can hatch out infertile eggs!

I did..a few didn't even respond.. personally I doubt they even had Jubilees... another told me that every Jubilee starts off blue... then changes to the "Jubilee color".. lol.. which I know isn't true!

but that's how eBay is.. for the most part it's buyer beware..

That's actually really funny... She didn't want "rooster eggs"

Did this person have any sex education? I remember learning about it in 4th grade. Humans and chickens have a different way of going about things, but the concept is the same, right? Chickens are not asexual lol.

I just don't understand, my Coronations are great layers but we had aperiod last year that fertility was low, but we check fertility on all our breeds. Then I see people selling hatching eggs but they only hatch once a year or none. Really. I mean come on folks. My first Jubilee hen has been laying for 2 months but none fertile, so no eggs or chicks yet.

Did you confront them? Maybe they got your order mixed up with another... Or maybe they just didn't care lol. Who was the person?

i would want more eggs if there was a mixup
if not i would want some money back

you need to trim her bottom so the rooster can "hit the mark"
i had the same trouble till i did a little trimming

I have no idea.. what gets me is that she wanted to argue that she hatches out eggs just fine with never having a roo.. talk about being in denial...

yup.. I have started asking people when the last time was that they hatched eggs from their birds.. and then hope that they are being honest with me..
I've also tried explaining that fertility can vary with the seasons as well as with other factors (food, recent stress and feathering).. but some people just won't listen.. at least the majority of sellers actually do have roosters in with their girls... so that much is a plus!
