Hen has wet pox tomorrow will be 2 weeks that she's had it. Have already lost 2. Did vaccinate rest of the flock this past Friday. I've been tube feeding as both eyes had been scabbed over and she's totally blind. She's nothing but a bone at this point. I've been feeding baby bird food mixed w/ vit/electro powder, pro biotic powder, sometimes a little ACV & Pediasure. Her crop isn't emptying out even after all night. There had been a sour smell so I stopped w/ the pediasure and now just using water for the liquid. The smell is gone but crop still isn't empty. When I fed her at 5:30 this morning I just gave her water w/ Olive Oil, vit/elect powder & pro biotic it was about 10cc. Almost 12 hrs later the crop isn't empty. I turned upside down & massaged the lump as that's what the posts said to do w/ sour crop. Nothing came out. We are so close to beating this I just can't see losing her now. I finally have one eye totally clear, and hopefully the other in a couple days. There's no more plague in her mouth. We're on the home stretch I just know it. I just don't know what to do now. She just CAN'T afford to miss any meals again she's just a bone and very weak. So do I continue w/ just water mixture or baby bird food or just pediasure? PLEASE someone help me help this poor hen. Thanks in advance for your help. Please pray for her, me and the rest of the flock. That no one else gets this horrible disease. I'LL VACCINATE EVERY CHIC BEFORE THEY EVER GO OUTSIDE FROM NOW ON.

Sorry you're going through this, I know how you feel. What breed is she and how much have you been tubing?

Im so sorry your having to go through this. Prayers are coming your way. Hopefully someone will have some good advice for you. If you tube feed over a full crop my fears would be that she could aspriate if the crop is not emptying on its own. This is a very tough situation and hopefully a expert can offer you some solid advice. If you do tube feed I highly recommend using Exact baby bird food by Kaytee. Its really the best and flows nicely through the tube and is easily digested and nutritionally sound with omegas and probotic. I will attach a picture of the food.its a excellent choice for tube feeding. I wish you the best and hope things work out for you. Here is the food you should feed should you decide to tube her.
