Chicken gurgling

Tetracycline can be mixed at 2 strengths (at least the Duramycin10 brand.) If she is still gurgling in 3 days you can go up to the higher dosing of 800mg which I believe is 1 TB per gallon. Tetracycline can also be given up to 14 days if she is not better. Give her some probiotics in her food or water to help replace the good bacteria in her gut. I have heard that tetracycline is bitter tasting, and one BYCer recommends using 4 oz cranberry juice to replace some of the water in mixing it. That way she will drink it better hopefully. If you don't feel that the tetracycline is working, switch to Tylan Soluble Powder or Tylan50 injectable.
The other day a hen was drinking water and she made a gurgling sound but I didn't think anything of it because she was drinking, But now all of my chickens in that coop are making the sound every time they eat or drink. Everyone is acting normal otherwise. What medicine can I get that is reasonably priced?

Whatever you do, please don’t breed from your permanently infected flock and do please keep a closed flock- do not bring/buy birds and do not giveaway/sell birds from your flock.

Sorry if I sound dumb but why can't I breed from my flock? And what steps can I take to insure my second flock doesn't get infected?

Because there is a chance that it could be MG, which can be passed through the eggs, making chicks that hatch, sick with the MG bacteria. So unless you get testing done, I wouldn’t breed.

Ok, thanks.

I am thinking about moving them or culling them but how do I disinfect their coop? I have many chicks in multiple stages that are away from the main coop that I will eventually want to move into the coop but I don't want them to get infected, so how do I keep them from getting whatever my main flock has?

Sorry for the late response! Best thing to do, is to clean anything feces. Diseases last and live longer in feces. Bleach or Oxine will work as the bacteria easily dies with chemicals. Wait a week or 2 (I’d suggest longer honestly) and then your new ones can go in there. There is still a risk though, especially if you don’t wait more than 4-5 weeks.
