The Best Black Copper Marans, Who has them?

I went ahead and got some Black Copper Marans hatching eggs from Blue Water Ranch and some more from My Highland Pride out of Mississippi. I also ordered some more Blue Splash from Blue Water Ranch, since I've had good luck with hers. I'm on day 11 on the first hatching in one incubator and I candled the eggs. I received 12 BCM eggs from Blue Water and 11 of them were good at day 10. I'm anxious to see them. I hope I can determine roo and hen out of the chicks when they start to feather. I want to keep a roo and 3 hens then sell the rest.

Stay away from LP/ Little Peddler unless you want to be totally ripped off. I have been round and round with Brenda Little until I'm just sick! I paid an outrageous $210 for a dozen "Fertile Hatching Eggs". She put NO PACKAGING on the top or between the eggs which were only rolled in paper. Then she sent them out USPS and only wrote "fragile" on the box. They arrived broken, cracked, dented, and a scrambled mess. She is refusing now to resend or refund my money. She keeps changing her story. I disputed with PayPal because she wouldn't respond to my emails. She finally responded ONLY AFTER I disputed with PayPal and sent her a copy. Then she said she would send replacement eggs. Then she wrote 10 days later that she wouldn't send eggs because of the PP dispute and acted like a victim, like she never knew about it even though it was already discussed in our emails. Then she wrote she wouldn't send replacement because the PP dispute was closed (I never received a refund). Then she wrote that I would have to close the dispute or she wouldn't send eggs. Then she wrote: "here's proof that PP has taken the money out of my account" and sent me proof of the PP DEPOSIT to her, not a withdraw. She has been nothing but lies, deception, fraud. She wrote that she has sent PayPal ALL the emails. I suspect she has selected a few to send to make her look good. Instead of being honest about it, I believe she is trying to manipulate PP into her favor so she can take my money and run. Like she clearly states on her site, she really doesn't want others to have her eggs (her excuse for charging so much). I had my heart set on raising Marans. After going through the ringer with Brenda Little's greed and fraud, I don't want to have anything to do with the whole lot of chicken breeders! I'll just continue to raise my variety for food egg sale. If you are looking for an HONEST breeder STAY AWAY FROM LP!

Thanks for letting me know. I've had a horrible time over the past year with chicken people. Most are fraudulent and could care less. But some do and give me hope. I have a friend who raises wonderful marans but is moving out of state. She is taking her birds with her so once she gets set up, you really should try her. She is a bit pricy but been in the breed for several years and really knows her birds. And they are healthy.

I bought silkies from a breeder only to have all 18 either die or I had to cull due to what the state Vet thought was avain encephalomyelitis. It was a heart breaking experience to say the least and costly. Breeder response was pretty much "Tough Luck"

I just culled my last two birds most likely having MG. Bought as chicks. No other birds were sick. Such sweet birds but sickly all the time.

I hatch a lot of eggs so I'm not giving up on finding TRUE breeders who care about their birds AND the customer. I've turned over a lot of stones to find my maran friend. They are few and far between.

I don't know about solid marans from Blue Water ranch but the splash are less than breeder quality. Same maran friend bought some eggs. The roos she has up for sale now. They are ugly birds. The pullets I haven't seen lately. The last time I saw them, I wasn't impressed. Certainly not show quality imo as stated on her ebay posting.

Does anyone have any information on where to purchase black copper maran pullets? I live in Wisconsin, and I am having a hard time finding them here, or online.
