What price do you get for your eggs?

Different markets, different prices. The same goes for locations near urban/suburban areas versus "out in the country".

Farmers market prices in my area (near northern Virginia) can vary from $4.00-$6.00 per dozen. Since my approach is pastured, no hormones, & no antibiotics, I could get these prices but I sell to neighbors and others for $3.50/ dozen and to a farm-to-table restaurant for $3.00/dozen. For me it is more important to move the eggs and get a reasonable price that helps cover feed costs. Feed costs in our area likewise are certainly higher than many others with 50 pound bags that sell for 15.00-16.50/bag.

Update on my own egg prices - we've been getting $5 / dozen fairly steadily, with a couple folks (immediate neighbors) getting them for $4. At those prices, I'm able to defray the cost of higher quality feed and make our own chicken and egg production cost affordable.

Hapless: I like your description - "my approach is pastured, no hormones, & no antibiotics". Same here, with the added caveat of "non GMO". Regardless of the effect that may have on egg price/value, it's the only kind of food I personally would want to eat.

Non-GMO feed here would be an additional $5-$8/50 pound bag plus extended travel to obtain. So this is not worth the effort in my situation. Some folks are adamant non-GMO types and will pay the extra, but most are not.

Same as you 2.50 doz 3.00 18 count. Duck eggs 3.50 doz. That just pays for all 14 hens and 2 roosters feed bill. The rest of the expenses is out of my pocket.

I sell my brown eggs for $3 and am sure I could get more if I wanted to. I live in CT. I used to give them away to anyone who would bring in their own carton but found people either felt guilty for taking them or we're taking advantage and feeding them to their dog.

I think the mixed color dozen is beautiful. I'm getting 3 Easter Eggers and am looking forward to blue and greens to mix with my browns.
