there MUST be more. we've finished the run and just putting finishing touches on the coop - currently have 1 rooster and 5 hens. it is lovely! they're just starting to lay.

Hi there - how would you say local laws regarding homesteading and livestock are in BC?
Have you had any unexpected hassle or had to jump through hoops to keep poultry and things?
Just curious.
How is the weather there this week?
I'm in east central MN and were looking forward to 30 degrees and sunny this week, after 22 below (F) last night.
I've seen pictures, BC looks beautiful.

BC is beautiful - but you sure pay to live here!
In Colwood bc - we just got approved two years ago to keep 4 chickens if you have less than an acre. So we ignore everything. As long as you don't piss off the neighbours - right?

Ha! That is true here as well - the county inspectors and sheriff really only enforce things like that if they get a lot of complaints. I used to be in a rural suburb, but now I'm far enough out in my area where I'm not limited too much - well except by my budget and my husband!

yeah, here i've got peacock pheasantswhich are pretty loud, and i never actually got approval for them.. not that the neighbours care
