White Crested Black Polish...Please help! - Page 4

Nothing on purpose really. I thought I was done for the year as I normally only hatch in the incubator. But my showgirl went broody and she is sitting on some polish and a couple of showgirl eggs. I haven't even candled them, but she is just too darn cute and so far doing a great job.  They will hatch sometime between monday and wednesday or she has just had a good vacation and no chicks to watch out for.

Really hoping she has some so we can start collecting information on the eye color.

Home of 10 WC Black and 2 WC Blue Polish, a splash silkie hen and roo, black hen and roo....and a pile of little silkies. Plus a broody Polish sitting on 5 peafowl eggs.

Funny, that's how I got my babes.  Two of my hens went broody, and I couldn't resist.  It was more fun than the incubator, LOL

I vote pullet!  (s)he looks exactly like my polish pullet - green eyes and all!

As with these toothpick spikes coming thru, and brighter eyes, the eyes seem to get brighter and at the same time.  The eyes came first.
Second, as they get older, it seems that before you can tell about the poof, watch the growth over the eyes.  My boys, I can see their eyes clearly from the sides.  My girls-as the days go by, I see less and less of their eyes due to their poof hiding them more and more.

See how on my pic #2, the eyes are beginning to get covered, so you can see them less and less.  It isn't happening on the boys in pics 1 and 3.

Can someone else please post their questionable pics showing the eyes, brightness, and how they are getting obstructed more and more?

Out of hatching 4 of my Polish, I think they all might be boys if I go by eyecolor.  Pics to follow  sad

Well, Verthandi and I are looking for minute signs, and one of them is eye color- bright color ring in eye-boy, muted, girl.  So far it's worked for me, but it seems to develop right before the spikes.  Verthandi may have a new hatch soon to run more experiment.

I have hatched out a bunch of polish and have had both eye colors in both sexes.
