I just wanted to share my experience with some email correspondence with Gabbard Farms. I had emailed them because I live in Arkansas and wanted to find Partridge Rocks. I did a search and found that Gabbard Farms was a mere 20 minute drive from me. I emailed them and asked when they might have chicks or hatching eggs available and asked if I could pick them up since we were so close. She responded by telling me that they do not currently offer local pick up, but they would be happy to ship to me. I declined, as I thought the idea to ship to me was a tad ludicrous. I thought it might be a biosecurity issue, so I asked if I could meet her in town to pick up. She responded by telling me that her chicks were hatched out of state for them. What?! Does anyone know what the heck is going on with this farm?

I know a little about them. I didn't know they raised rocks. So perhaps they have an agreement to sell another breeder's birds.
I'm very reluctant for someone to come here if they already have chickens. I would meet someone or provide throwaway coveralls and booties.
Perhaps they're dropshipped from the other state.

That would tell me she is selling chicks for someone else and dropshipped from there. It wouldn't make sense for her to ship the eggs to her and then have you pick them up.

If the chicks have to be shipped, it would make sense to ship them to your PO.

Well that would mean, you would have to drive to another state to pick up the eggs.

Partridge Rocks aren't very rare. There should be a lot of sources in Arkansas.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if she's a breeder, or a middle man. Considering she said her chicks were hatched for her out of state, I am really confused at this point. I know others have said that their orders for chicks from MPC were addressed West Fork, Ar. Gabbard Farms. So if she sells hatching eggs and supplies MPC with eggs, maybe she can sell me some hatching eggs.

I know she breeds some. I know she breeds Penedesencas. Other than that, I can't speak to her business model.
She told you what was available and how you could get them. If that isn't good enough, I suggest you shop elsewhere.
