I just ordered my first set and was wondering how well the chick s were and health
has anyone ordered from mt healthy hatchery

I did order from them in the spring of 2012 and both the chickens and the guineas did well. Ordering from a hatchery is a great place to start. Spring 2013, I had three orders from three different places, One hatchery in Missouri, Mr. Duane Urch in Minnesota, and another breeder that had won a national award in the breed I have fallen in love with, this spring I will try incubating from the 2013 hens.
My feed and seed orders from them. I love their auracanas( they are EE's). They lay really well; nice blue eggs.

I ordered from them my first set of chicks and they performed very well. However, Mt. Healthy is known for Salmonella issues.

Thanks how can you tell if they have salmonella? I'm new at raising chickens
I have had mine checked and so far no problem with Salmonella I' ve been getting them for 3 yrs.

It's usually a sanitary problem with the facility. I'm unsure how to know if they have it. Probably a type of testing. Just be cautious with ANY birds you get. They do have nice birds though.

Darn, 15 qty minimum.
Check with a local feed and seed store. They may allow you to get a small qty. Tractor supply has them in the spring. I am not sure if they buy from Mt. Healthy or not. Check.

The tractor supply in north alabama orders from them so may be a company thing thanks for the help hope everyone ok in this cold
