I recently inherited a chicken named LaFawnduh and a female turkey (crossed wild and domestic) I've become quite attached and recently found out my turkey (Fiona) was injured before I got her. She was cut on her right breast which got infected. I was able to get her to the vet, and antibiotics have cleared her infection, but now she doesn't want to stand on her own and seems to be in a lot of pain. She still eats, drinks, and poops regularly though, I just have to move her around. Her feet are now swollen and I have no clue what to do to help her.

Oh she looks sweet. What does the vet say? I don't know if turkeys get bumblefoot like chickens do. You might try posting in the "emergencies, diseases, illness, cures," thread. Meanwhile

put "Bumblefoot" in the search box and see if it sounds like her problems.

She is so sweet. The vet said that after the infection is gone she'd be fine because her cut was already healing. She was doing okay until a couple of days in with the antibiotic, she just laid down and wouldn't get up. I looked up bumble foot and she's not that swollen and there doesn't appear to be any holes. I get her up throughout the day and make her stand but she uses me a lot because she isn't strong enough to stand on her own. Do you know how long a turkey can lay on their feet without getting up and still be okay? That is what I'm worried about. I fear she will lay too much and lose all mobility and strength. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to see what he suggests. Thank you for your response
