I have successfully started training my Sultans! They are both indeed females, and quite intelligent! I have done maybe four training sessions with them, and have so far trained them to jump onto my arm (from up to about 2 feet away so far), and to peck a small silver bell I found in my room. Good thing I have it on a key chain ring with my clicker, otherwise they would probably swallow it!
Training them to jump to my arm was the first thing I started teaching them. They picked it up pretty fast!
Training them to peck the silver bell wasn't very hard, since chickens naturally peck shiny things... So every time they would peck it, they would immediately get their treat. But instead of using the clicker for this one, I just let them associate the sound of the bell with pecking it.
I have recently hatched three crossbreeds, and in an attempt to tame the only female, I have started training her! She has only had two training sessions, and she already will jump to my arm from about two feet away, with just the command and not the treat as a motivation. I hide the treat, then command her to jump to my arm, and reveal the food!
I have also started training her to go to a wood block on command - her "spot". She's doing that pretty well, too!
