Here's Josh, a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte who's looking for a flock of his own to care for. He's very stately and I just love his russet wings and saddle. His pictures don't do him justice. He is a youngster from a June 8th, 2013 hatch.

Josh is in Northern Colorado, in the Fort Collins and Bellvue area.

I think you live in our neighborhood! Why are you looking for a new home for him? We currently only have hens... and I have been hesitant to add a roo because of the noise. If you are here in Soldier Canyon like we are, you know the sound carries.. and neighbors are close.

Oops, if I had looked closer, I would have seen this post was from a year ago, not a couple of days ago!

Joshua was one of three BLRW roos I had last year. I took a shot at finding them a home. They weren't really any louder than the hens' egg song, but the wear and tear on the girls was too much. Unfortunately, we ended up taking all three to friend to butcher. No more straight runs for me, I'm too tender-hearted!

We're in the house just north of the Park, on the east side of Lodgepole. If you look down you'll probably see the girls in their poultry net turn-out.

Nice to hear from a neighbor!

You had the goats for the weeds this fall, yeah?! We are just up the road on Blue Spruce. Funny to find a neighbor on such a large forum!
We raise meat birds in the summer, so if you ever need a butchering, let me know. I would be happy to help out.
I am too tender hearted as well, my husband does the culling. I do the rest though.

Thanks, Liz! We may need to call on you. Yes, I hired a heard of goats to do some chemical-free weeding and clearing. They really got rid of the ladder fuels in the draw and cleaned things up well. They were so entertaining that I was sad when they went to their next job. Stop by any time.

We are getting a goat this spring, as long as we have a bit of a break with cold in March and can make a few fence repairs. Sadly, the previous owner let a few things go to disrepair.
I am so excited to have some natural weed control! The thistle and dock are running rampant in our back acre... as well as over the leach field.
We were among some of the neighbors who came to watch and admire the herd of goats! They really are entertaining.
I may come stop by sometime and pick your brain on gardening up here. I have admired your greenhouse from afar for about a year now!

The goat will definitely enjoy keep those weeds down for you.

We're pretty new to gardening and are learning as we go how to best use the greenhouse. Even so, I'm pretty sure we had about 250 lbs of tomatoes last year. The girls provide us will ample compost. We've been able to grow greens without supplemental heat in the winters, which is really nice. The two rounds of hail last year quashed our outdoor plants, but we did get a few potatoes.

I'm thinking of getting a goat or two as well, in order to maintain the weed control. They are so thorough!

I will certainly take you up on the offer! I will come by sometime when both kids are in school. I doubt they will find chicken, goat and garden talk as entertaining as we do!
The hail was a serious problem for us. We didn't have a garden this past summer, luckily, because we just didn't get the area we wanted to put it in good enough soil shape. But, our garage flooded, twice in one day, with that crazy storm! We don't keep cars in there, all our boxes of books and furniture that don't fit in the house is in there! It was a frantic mess. Oh well. Kind of a freak storm in itself.
What type of goats are you thinking of getting? We are leaning pretty hard on the Nubian. Not sure about a kid or a milking goat though...
