The Paleo Diet

I am 100% Paleo - 80% of the time.
I learned in my archeology class that ALL early HG humans 'invented' cheese on they're own. It is thought that when they took down a lactating animal they used its stomach as a bag to carry the milk back home. By the time they got there the acids left in the stomach fermented and/or curdled the milk into some kind of cheesy stuff. It must have took a brave one to look at it and say "ok, I'll try it." lol 'VIOLA - cheese!
So, I am for eating cheeses, yogurt etc. I even use heavy cream in my coffee. I don't however drink straight milk (from cows). Cheeses n creams are low in carbohydrates and regular milk is higher.
Anyway, I call myself a lacto-paleo since I am not lactose intolerant.
I agree with CountryFamily and treat your 'cheats' as treats and don't feel guilty about it too much.

Thanks Country life.

THe last 10 years I have been morphing our eating habits.More organic; more whole foods; more veg and fruit; far less breads and sugars; far less SAD desserts. I t is the "life happens" that irks me because then we eat crappy food. I'm not so sure that we can spare that 20% to "life happens." I would love to se studies on folks that commited to eating clean, etc and then followed for 10+ years but I certainly doooubt such a study of their health exists.

My oldest has been acting irritable these last few day and I'm thinking it is the freeze p ops. To see if that is the case I have banned the kids form eating these treats that were given to us. I dont buy this junk-- flavored sugar water. Hoping to see an improvement over the next few days. For this child dairy is a big part of his overall diet-- a yogurt a day or more. Which is what is pushing me to organic milk or rather unpastureized and organic milks . . . . . might visit the farm for more info to help make a decisison.

Again, thanks for your 2 cents.

That is great!!!!! I've lived low carb or many years now, with a few off plan foods, and you are so right. Feeling great is worth giving up the bread!!

THere are a number of low carb breads IF you ever want to put some back into your diet. Read the labels to find one you are happy with.

Kids had pancakes this morning made from only fresh ground quinoa, an egg, baking soda and sour milk. ANd a bit of honey on top. THey would neer have eaten this 2 years ago!! ROFL

My family eats dairy. Guess it would be considered primal. We don't have a sensitivity so I allow raw, organic, grass fed dairy items. My kids have been paleo since they were born and are now 2 and doing very well. Paleo is more about healing your gut, and avoiding things that irritate it. So everyone has their own paleo code. Now if only we could get all our families on board.
