The Front Porch Swing

Hi All!
It has probably been more than a year since I have visited. Glad to see some old friends are still around. I am still on my farm in Ohio. I have leased some land on the upper part of my property to a couple who help me with some of the chores. We did 30 meat birds together. The last will go to freezer camp this weekend. We also got a feeder pig. That is a new experience for all of us. They have a horse. I am doing pretty good. Still battle arthritis and Fibro, but try to stay active. Have met a few widows like myself. We joke that we should form a widow's club and hire a handyman for all the honey-do's, but we usually just pull together and help each other out. I will try to visit more often.

Good to hear from you. Glad you're doing well. Good to throw in your lot with the other widows. Shared joys and sorrows. Shared work load also! Yes, a handy man for the honey-do list would be awesome. Take care, and keep in touch here or there.

@wyoDreamer, congrats on the job! That is so exciting! I hope your loving it!

@rrrmamma, nice to see you on the thread!

I see @bruceha2000 is still here to keep us laughing. I hope you all are doing well!

The last few months have been amazing, stressful and overall extremely happy and rewarding for our family. Our foster son moved in and just fits right in with the family and it's been amazing! We have to take 12 hours of training a year to stay foster parents and I've already taken 23hours and my husband has taken 18 hours. That in itself is a lot! Monday, we officially got the home study process started for adoption! From the adoption workers estimated timeline, we should be parents to two awesome boys around December or January!!!! I'm really hoping for December so I can send out Christmas cards, otherwise we will be sending out late "happy new year" cards once the adoption is finalized. I feel like we have packed so much in the last few months, but we are so happy and feel so lucky to have another wonderful little boy in our lives.

Do any of you have any super awesome summer plans? We are going camping this weekend and then the first week in August we head up to Oregon and see family, then head over to fossil Oregon and take the boys to the fossil beds to dig for (you guessed it) fossils! Hopefully hit crater lake on the way home and manage to not go crazy! Hahaha!

So busy Alice! Congrats on the successful integration of your foster, soon to be "your" son! How old is he and your other son?

Road trip with the boys ... "are we there YET?!?"

We have a six year old and our new little man is three.

And yes, anticipating lots of "are we there yet"

. My son is use to the drive and to longer road trips, but not sure about how it will go with are new addition. They will have fun things to do and we will make stops to play. Maybe I should invest in ear plugs

How is everyone doing on the porch now that we are at the end of summer? My son officially started first grade today

. I don't know how that happened! My husband stayed with the daycare kids so that I could bring him to his first day of school.

I hope everyone is doing well and had a great summer.
