What age do chickens stop laying???

kust thought i'd say that i have a 6 year old hybrid hen that still chips in with the odd egg or two a week, and she was first to lay this year!

I have 3 girls at least 6 years old, one has started to get broody more often, but during the warmer months they all lay really consistently. One looks andulusian, but theyre barnyard mixes really.

I know this is an old thread, but... thanks for your responses. I feel a little better about our almost 3 yr old blue Wyandotte, Grey.

She started laying some soft shelled eggs in February. The eggs were normal for most of March. Then the shells got thinner, then no shell at all. Yesterday, she went in the nest, stepped out like she was done laying. There was no egg in the nest. Maybe she is “henopausal”?

Our EE, Brownie, same age, who never laid as many eggs as she did, still gives us 3-4 large brown eggs a week.

Goldie, our 6 year old EE, our green-Egger, lays even more than Brownie.

Go figure.
