I have or had 17 chickens, 1 rooster, 2 ducks (1 drake & 1 hen). The ducks were given to me in September. Since then I have had about 5 hens die and my rooster. And they were not old. I have heard that the ducks could be giving the chickens a disease and it is killing them. is this true? Help before all my chickens are dead. :(

I am not an expert but i do have chickens ducks and geese and I have not heard of ducks giving chickens a disease before. What are symptoms your chickens are having?

The way to know what is going on is to have a necropsy. Ducks are resistant to many diseases, but that is different than being a carrier. Have you had a fecal test done on both ducks and chickens' poop? A lab or a vet can answer your question.

There are bacteria and viruses in the environment, sometimes feed is a problem (though from what I read, ducks are more sensitive to toxins in feed).
