2014 breeding season begins, post your results

Just checked 9 that are due on the 13th, 8 have shadowing and one looks dead.

Kathy, what is Shadowing? My eggs are at day 30 and I'm bumming. The hen is still sitting on them. She just got up and I swear one wobbled a little. No sign of cracks or pips. Here is a picture of them a few minutes ago. Not knowing what shadowing is, I was curious if these are shadowing?

Shadowing as I understand it is when the embryo is just about to pip internally and you can only see this by candling. On the iPad now, so can't post any pictures.

My hen has been sitting on eggs for 30 days. Any chance they are going to hatch?

I've seen chicken eggs and duck eggs go well past their due dates, so I guess it's possible? My pea egg experience is limited, but I can say that my pea eggs have never taken longer than 28 days. Can you candle them?

Day 26 and I have some external pips!

I am at day 24 for the guinias and 26 for the peas. Shadowing is the inner membrane broken but the outside isn't. You can see the chick moving on the inside. Here is day 24 for guineas. This one started moving first and developed faster than the rest!

Here it is! The first one!
