Lavendar Orpington Rooster over Blue/Black/Splash Hens - What will I get?

Great discussion on the genetics. Will have to share a link with my friends!

And Orpingtons re only different from Langshans in taht they are better! Though my many visits to Forrest Beauford's farm never convinced Forrest they were better. He did try to sell me a quad of Buff Orpingtons once. Terry Britt convinced him to get them and he bred them a year or so and then sold them.

Hi!
Is it possible to have a Black Roo and a Blue hen have a lavender chick?

This seems to of happened to me and I'm confused.

how would this be possible out of the combination? Wouldn't mom and dad have to both me recessive carriers of the lavender gene?

Yes, both parents would have to carry the lavender gene to produce a lavender chick. So either they did, or its just a different shade of blue (which is notoriously unstable anyway.)
