Laying an egg without a shell?

Just a couple of hours ago (in the evening), I was shoveling out the coop and had to shut my pullets out of it so I could open the back door to access the wheelbarrow, which meant depriving them for a little while of water (something I didn't notice until I let them back in and they were absolutely parched, wouldn't stop drinking) and, of course, their nesting boxes.
While I was doing this, my White Leghorn laid down in the dust and seemed a little drowsy. Since it was evening and she had already laid an egg that day (normal-shelled, in the nesting box, as usual), I just assumed she was getting ready to take a dust bath. When she got up, I noticed that she was walking kind of slowly and knock-kneed, as if she were fragile. I was concerned but went back to shoveling out the coop. A minute later, I came back out to check on her and to my bewilderment she had laid an egg. I poked it and almost screamed because there was nothing but membrane. It freaked me out. I didn't get such a good look at the inside because my other four came running to peck it apart and gobble it up, but it seemed normal to me.
She does tend to lay two in one day--maybe she does this all the time and I just don't notice it because the birds eat them, or maybe I was just stressing her out by being in there, making all that noise, and shutting her out of her normal area.

Just got one the other day with no she'll at all, apparently laid at the same time a normal one was laid. :/

My 3 year old Easter Egger had this yesterday. I had to pull it out the rest of the way. Looks different than any egg I've seen without a shell. It was yolk filled and white albumen coming from the tube like area. My chicken has not been laying for about a year and now she surprises me wih this.
