Friesian Fowl Q&A Discussion Thread

Mine are the Real characters, bright alert, quiet, follow me around, very inquisitive and will fly onto my knee to have a close up inspectionbut no way are they happy you trying to touch them...lol
They laid all through winter, one went through a drastic moult and only stopped laying for a month!
Hardy healthy great foragers ( normally lost in the bottom of a hedgerow somewhere foraging and very predator alert, BUT small eggs.
They love treats and come flying to me when I call them. Light feeders and above all stunning looking, Highly recommended!

Beautiful girls! And, thanks for the update. The local person has the East Friesian Gull version. Will check out the link you supplied for more info.

Hi, new to friesians ☺️ Lovely fowl to keep but am having trouble incubating what temperature should I set at and what do you feed friesians?

I incubate mine at 37.5 degrees Celsius and 45% RH.
I found nearly 100% hatch rates with Brodie’s though.
I feed mine organic free range layers pellets as adults, chick crumb with coccidiosistat in it as chicks and organic growers until they start laying.

Hi Freisian
what colour are the hens in your photo (message #113)? Chamois? gold penciled?
I've been offered a cock and three hens and they seem to be lighter in colour. But same markings.
thanks

I know this is an old thread but Im hoping someone can tell me what this sex and breed this chicken is. Hatched as solver deahtlayer eggs last August(2021). Clearly not a deathlayer
