Someone broke into my car and I need to rant.

I am afraid if I don't, my head will fly clean off my shoulders.
This afternoon, in a parking lot I once believed to be fairly safe (It is right beside a daycare, an activity center and it's fairly busy!!!), someone decided they would smash in my window and take my stuff. I am so ticked, I can't even form cohesive thoughts at the moment. It's going to cost me hundreds to repair that window and they got about $30 dollars in junk. I can't. Nope.
How? Why?
More importantly, someone heard or saw it happen, the place is just too busy. Even after, people were just walking by as I stood dumbfoundly in front of the pile of glass that was once my window. GAAAH PEOPLE. And I don't know what they used to do it, but there was glass everywhere. Outside, inside, in the back of the car.

All for about $30. Seriously. I reported it, but there is nothing anyone can do.
My brain hurts. I know it's not that serious of thing in the long run, but right now I am so angry.
I just need to rant to random people on the interwebs.

I know how you feel...makes you mad as fire. We had someone break into our truck a couple of years ago and stole my husband's shotgun and last year someone tried to break into a window while we were home. We've also had a peeping tom, but he was eventually caught while looking in a neighbor's window. People are really getting bold and don't care when, where, or how they get what they want. I am sorry this happened to you and I feel your frustration.

That is why I dont lock my car an usually leave the windows down....

I remember working at walmat an people questioning me about it. Told them it was a habit I got when I had a convertible. A radio is only $30 but a new rag top is $500 to $1000. Then I showed them the price of he T tops on the car I was driving then. A few days later I started seeing a lot of open windows in the employe parking. I assume people started doing math.

We were up in WI many years ago, and someone broke into the car we were using. It was my brother in law's car. We were visiting with some relatives of my husband, uncle or someone. We were told in no uncertain terms that we were no longer welcome at their home because we "invite crime". It's been 24 years, and we haven't been back to their house. Some people....

Well, I guess misery loves company. Argh, and I so sorry it happened to all of you as well! My biggest problem at the moment is that I will never feel right about leaving my car there, and I have to park there everyday. I don't really have much choice. I talked to a few people and found out this isn't exactly a rare occurrence either. There are no security cameras, lights at night, patrols, etc. And this on campus!

I Just have so much stuff I have to keep in my car in between classes, so I can't really do that either! Not that locking anything seems to deter them. Ugh.

Day cares are a good target. People leave their purses in the car for just a second while they pick up the kids. Their arms are already full of baby stuff and toys not to mention baby.

Relative to the idea of leaving your car unlocked, in my neighborhood if you do that someone will get into the car and fall asleep. Worse, they get sick or go to the toilet.

Yeah, the later is what I am afraid of.

We surveyed the damage today, there's a lot more than we originally thought.
They tried to jimmy their way in before resolving to go through the window. Someone had to see them do it, the parking lot is just too busy.
I know plenty of people passed it, and me, by while I was freaking out. People just want to do their best to stay as uninvolved as possible. Ugh.
(And by me, I wasn't making a scene, just trying to clean up the broken glass everywhere.)

Sorry about the busted window. People just need their drug money. Witnesses are afraid to speak up; they fear retribution. We are living in a really strange world now.

Ugh that is horrible. Being a victim of burglary leaves you feeling so exposed. I hate people who have no respect for others' things.

I have been leaving my doors unlocked for the past year and a half because the alarm tends to go off sporadically if I lock them. So far I've been lucky and haven't had anything stolen. My school gives me a false sense of security sometimes though. It's so safe that I forget other places are not. Growing up in a family of cops helps remind me though

I'm so sooty this has happened to you and I feel your pain...several years ago my daughter came out of the gym where we work out, around 9 at night. Found my window smashed. Lots of bad things about that night but the worst was the theft of my brand new coach purse. I've never had one before and it was really pretty...and I had charged it and was still paying in it...for a while after it was gone.
It gets better but you still feel violated and quit ****** at the person who did this.
