Sickly duck at local produce store...

I was a lurker on this thread, but hadn't caught up on it for a while. Seems like you've settled into your new lodgings nicely, and that the little fellow is doing a lot better than the did at the beginning of this thread. It appears you managed to cure the bumblefoot, but I had to chime in regarding the comment that @subhanalah made about Vetericyn. It's an amazing product, we've used it on our dogs whenever they get cuts, and I managed to burn my hand last weekend (drunken midsummer-celebration sauna mishap), and wound was fine until yesterday, but now the nerves seem to be becoming active again and it's also gotten a bit infected. I started using Vetericyn on it yesterday (Yes, yes, only approved for animal use), and today the wound has shrunken to half it's size. Amazing stuff. Another good veterinary product that I like to misuse on myself, is Vetramil, a honey and herb based ointment.

Hopefully your flock will put aside their differences soon, good luck!
I have used Vetericyn on myself too, great product. have to look up the Vetramil sounds very interesting.

Oh no Sampy, that doesn't to good at all!
I haven't dealt with ducks much so I don't really know what to recommend. Perhaps alternate each day when each party can go out into the main area/pool.
Just warning, when you get more ducks you might have to start all over again as Whistles is gong to want to put them all in place and the current ducks will also want to show the new ducks that they were here first.

Good luck

Sampy sounds like you may just need a few more girls. Boys can be rough with the girls but usually I find they girls will fight back and chase an aggressive male if it gets too much. Maybe he has just gotten overly excited to be finally with some females. Let me know if your still chasing females. I may have a few.

Oh wow, so many posts to catch up on! Haha. Thanks for all of the tips, guys! We're going to wait to introduce them without a barrier, because we've just got the two girls and also don't want to have to go through it all a second time when we get more (satay, I will PM you after this!). We were mainly worried because we'd heard that drakes can be aggressive with females when mating, but Whistles hasn't really shown much interest in 'doing the deed' as yet and we were worried if it was just pointless violence. But if this is normal behaviour until he asserts his dominance and he'll start showing signs of wanting to mate after that happens, then...I guess we'll just have to bear it. I do feel so sorry for the females though.

As for the time of year, do you mean in regard to an American season...? Because it's winter here in Australia at the moment.

Haha, sounds like I'll have to keep an eye out for this Veterycin! And I don't think it was bumblefoot afterall, or maybe it healed itself if that happens with mild cases? We kept him on soft bedding and carried him over any hard surfaces until we moved and he doesn't have any hard surfaces that he regularly walks on anymore so any red on his feet went away within about a week.

We've been checking everyone's feet to keep an eye on it since we first discovered it on one of our hens, but we haven't had any other problems so far.
