Well, I believe that in Lakeland, Florida, USA, they have an annual "culling" of its swan population, not to kill but to sell. there are Merles there, they should be for sale, too.

I sent an e-mail to the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and they gave me a phone number to the Parks and Recreation department, which is in charge of the swan roundup. You can reach them at (863) 834-6035. The lady I talked to there didn't really know if they had the silver or merle color but she did know that they had blacks there. She said they have a fall roundup, usually in October or November, where they collect the swans and a veterinerian checks them all over. Then, depending on the summer hatch, they decide how many to release back and how many they will sell. They will not ship to anyone and it's on a first come, first serve basis as to who can buy the swans. They took my address and said they would send me a notice when they plan the roundup. Hope that helps you.

a guy up north traded them some blacknecks for the Merles, they just hatched 5 babies from him but all the cygnets hatched black, they carry the merle gene and its possible they will produce silver/merle in the future.

OH MY GOSH!! What I'd give for Merle Swans. I'm researching the species because I hatched a Black Australian Swan that is 5 weeks old now. Presently it's bathing in the bathtub but will need to figure out an outside situation. Someone suggested just a kiddie pool but hopefully will do better then that. I was hoping to find another swan for it to grow up with but no luck yet. Guess I'll have a pet here, even ordered a diaper harness, haha!!! I'm a peafowl person so this is a new learning experience. Any suggestions I'd appreciate. I'm feeding it Mazuri and lots of Romaine lettuce. Just starting to take it out on our 5 acres to eat grass but here in south central Texas we have lots of nasty weeds. Would it eat something that could make it sick or even kill it???? More eggs in the incubator so perhaps I'll hatch more. Only intend to keep them until a safe happy forever home is found to sell them to. Well.....might keep a pair if I can get an adequate small pond built. Water is super expensive here so may not be feasible. Water well would cost about $13,000 so that's out of the question. HELP!!!! What have I gotten myself into, LOL!!!

U could just dig a natural pond he would like that! Where in Texas are you located? I'm in Louisiana. U could find somebody else who raises them and ask about a yearling. Only problem is you might need to enclose the pond if your going to buy a new one. Swans aren't like domestics. Also if you get another one the aggression levels will get a lot higher.
