My journey to change Chicken Laws in Citrus Heights, Ca ~ and keep my flock

Hello,
I am New to this thread but wanted to follow! I am in the same boat as many of you. Our lot is just shy of the now required 10,000 sq.feet. It is very frustrating to know that we have ample amount of space for chickens & a coop but can not do so legally. We have lived here for 6 Years now but I have been raised in Citrus Heights all my life. I grew up around Chickens & would love to pass it down to my Son while he is still interested. Also eating fresh eggs knowing where they are coming from & knowing that my Chickens are happy & healthy. I thank all of you for the hard work & efforts you have put in thus far & I hope the City Council decides to put the Residents & their Families needs ahead of theirs.

Hello,

Did you know that chickens are illegal to keep in Citrus Heights if you have less than .25 acre? We are your customers and members and we need your help! There will be a vote on Aug. 11th!!!

I just signed the petition "Citrus Heights City Council: Support Hen Keeping in Citrus Heights Backyards" and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.

Our goal is to reach 200 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:

Thanks!

The city council passed the ordinance change. The new ordinance will take effect on October 8th and we can have a maximum of 6 hens for properties less than 10,000 square feet. Nice job ladies!
