Hens to give away! Can't keep through the winter!

Wow - I guess I worried too much last winter! I just equate animal comfort to human comfort way too much! I kinda wondered if I was going overboard with my heat in the henhouse last winter when I would see the birds in and around the birdfeeder by my deck doing just fine with no shelter at all! I see that I can decrease my heat worries -- now - does anyone have any hens for sale in the Fargo / Detroit Lakes area?

Yep-a friend of mine feeds some kind of raw milk mash to her ladies and they are super healthy.

I am so glad you are going to keep your chickens OP, and

I leave my little coop door during the say so they can go out to the run. The run is just a 10 ft by 15 ft dog kennel covered in tarps over the winter. Last year i ran a heat lamp all winter and it costed a fortune. I will be doing the deep litter method this year for sure with just a light bulb and of course a heated water bowl. Mn winters are pretty harsh last year seemed really cold but the chickens went out in the run everyday all day and didnt seem to mind. I gave them warm scrambled eggs for those really cold days as well as their daily dose of scratch grains.

My girls were just fine last winter. I didn't even have a heat lamp in there. Granted my coop is insulated and sheet rocked, but no heat. This year on my big coop I didn't even insulate it, but I will use some type of heating.
