scaly sores on hens feet-help!!

I noticed on my hens feet about 3 weeks ago a little spot on one of her legs that looked like one of the scale looking things on her legs had been irritated and had a little dried blood around it. now as time has past more and more spots have shown up. i have been washing her feet with water every once in a while to keep some of the dirt off of it. there is no sores on her bottoms of her feet, just on her legs and toes. Is this common? i was wondering if it was due to the really cold weather. she has no problem walking they just look really dry and weathered.



 
If the scales are raised at all it could be scaley leg mites. You wouldn't be able to see them as they live under the scales but treatment is simple. Just put vasseline on them starting at the top of the scales and working your way down to the toes (so they have no where to run). You would also want to treat the roost.
 
I have seen similar spots on BYC before, but usually there is no solution. Since there looks like a little ulcer on one of the spots, I will guess that there could be some staph infection. Mareks disease sometimes can cause a similar-looking bruised look to the legs. Is there muddy or soiled conditions in your coop, or could the legs be pecked?
 
i hope its as easy as just keeping it clean and Vaseline. ill give it a try! :)
 
I have wondered if it started with a little spot and then maybe it got worse from them pecking at her. maybe separating her will help?
 
I discovered today the same thing on my three-four week old Lemon. She's the only one of six that has like lines of irritation/sore like places on both legs. I am new at this too so am not familiar with what is going on. I am putting bacitracin on it hoping it will go away.
 
I just soaked her is warm water with Epsom salt and then dried her and put Vaseline on her 2 times a day. shes fine now
 
My Lemon still has theSE slits on both feet. I wash with anti bacterial soap, soaked epson salt, dry use antibacterial cream with vertex, pro biopics and antibiotics...what else is there to do. It gets better, then worse....
 
This is exactly what my lemon looks like, but worse...never has gone away. What do any of you experts in chickenry this this is and what else can I do?
