Rooster attacked by dog :( Updated with pictures of his injuries

This is our Honey. He had beautiful feathers.
I'm sorry to hear about your rooster's attack. As long as is vent isn't damaged and he didn't suffer internal injuries, he may heal fine. We had a very independent hen attacked in the fall by a neighbor's dog who got her as she was crossing our road to go lay her egg in her favorite stolen nest. Her wings and tail feathers were damaged, and she walked upright and crooked for a few weeks. The important thing is that she ate and drank well, ad wanted to be near the other chickens, so we let her do as she wished. She has totally recovered now, although not yet resumed laying. I would use some Vetericyn wound spray on him, or clean him up and use plain Neosporin ointment. BluKote spray can hide his wounds, but I would probably cage him inside the coop for a few days with the others, so that they don't peck at the wounds. Feed him a little extra protein--eggs, tuna, liver, gamebird feed, and make sure that he is drinking well. Vitamins and electrolytes in his water may be good for a few days, along with a probiotic or plain yogurt.

He did survive. We isolated him and provided him with a heat lamp with he love heating his backside on. We sprayed the wound with Vetericyn often. His tail faethers are grown back now. We have our property fully fenced now and put the neighbor on warning about their dog.
I don't know how he made it. The skin was missing and I could see what I thought was muscle. Not sure if he's scared under the feathers but he's back to normal. Thanks for asking. I'm a believer in having an emergency kit handy for the animals.

Here's Roo today.

Wow! He looks great! So glad he made it. :) we found out one of our chocolate English orp pullets had a nasty wound under her feathers just forward of her hip under her wing tip. We believe it's either from a hawk or a cockeral (though we have none with spurs yet) it was infected and quite a mess. The deepest point of the wound extended about 2-3 inches forward under her skin. We cleaned her up very well, packed the wound with neosporin(without pain relief), bluekote the whole area and have started her on antibiotic shots.

Just since Friday night her wound no longer smells and she is perking up. She has lost some weight but otherwise seems in great health.

Our rooster was attacked oct 5 by a fox. He sounds a lot like frank.. head lowered and lethargic. We sprayed him with vetericyn around his neck area and butt since feathers were pulled out. But I can't see any open wounds but he's not bleeding. He has been eatting and drinking electrolyte water with vitamins in it. I just wanted to know when frank started to walk around ok and be back to normal or if anyone else has had any luck with this.
