Is there any difference in the rate of tail feather development in barred rock chicks. Pretty much every chick I've hatched, of all different breeds, the pullets'tails start feathering before the cockerels of the same age. My black australorp are super easy to sex that way by 2-3 weeks tops. I ordered an assortment of meat chicks, all supposed to be cockerels. I got a few pullets of various breeds mixed in, and was able to tell by tail feathering, but the barred rocks tails all began feathering before any other breed. Just curious if either sex's tails general feather faster or develop differently
