So you need to name the dog... A very personal thing I know, but since he is my Virtual Choc Lab, I can name him too. Thinking Boomer. It was the first thing I thought when I saw him!
When Scooter showed up in a fluffy frenzy, we tried all sorts of names. When I tried "Scooter!", he turned his head and sat down. Instant name! Took 3 days.
DH gets ultimate name decision. Guess I can let him have one in ten years.
"Ben" is literally the only thing he responds to. I locked the birds up and took him out so I could correct his interests with a fence between them. And then I made myself hoarse yelling all manner of things at him. He doesn't respond to the same corrections as Jewel does; no nice subtleties for him.
So, learning curve. He's just giving me polite indifference right now. He's treating us like the babysitter because he doesn't know that now we're home. Humoring us.
That a lot of anthropomorphizations, but that's how I feel. It's ok. Hasn't even been 12 hours. We'll all get it together.
