yeppers  I usually got stuck cleaning all the game dad and brothers shot as I was more patent.  Have also home processed a number of pigs up to 6 in 1 weekend with friends. Even with them I did all the breaking down of the carcass  same when we do chickens I help with the wacking and then plucking a few and then do all the gutting and cleaning.   The two that usually  help on chicken D day still can't keep up with me.   LOL
I'm not very fast at it but I don't mind it at all. My step brother wears surgical gloves. I'd rather feel what I'm doing. I've had people tell me that back straps and tenderloin is the same thing. I had to show one guy the difference in night when I was cleaning one. A lot of people around here think they're the same thing though. I'll clean anything. Squirrel, rabbit, snake, fish deer, co on and helped on a hog when I was young. I'm not the best at cleaning but I manage to get it done.

I agree, any venison that doesn't taste good is either improperly dressed out, not hung to age long enough, not cooled quickly enough or not properly cooked.

I did shoot a mule deer doe one year it didn't smell right from the beginning but since I shot it I tagged it. IT just smelled woofy. It ended up going to my friends chickens and cats. I felt terrible but wasn't going to take a chance or waste the time on a rotten one. His animals enjoyed it though. We have both mulies and whitetail in this part of North Dakota. This year I have an any antlerless deer so I can say I am NOT going to shoot Bambi but his mother or girlfriend

I have actually seen a "wet" doe with antlers before. Those "Swedish deer" are rare LOL

Wet doe is one that still has milk.
