Our Quail Hatching Story

Bobwhites are a lot more difficult that Coturnix. You can't handle Bobs, they can be skittish and flighty, and have to be kept in pairs during breeding season. I have hatched and raised all mine, so they are pretty laid back, but still I can not handle them without stressing them. I keep them aviary style for the off breeding season, but come spring thru fall, they need to be kept separated in pairs as they can harm or kill each other for territory. So a bit more attention needed for Bobs. But I do enjoy them greatly. :)

Urgh, sorry I haven't gotten pictures up.. I have no idea how... Last time we tried, it was a nightmare. But anyway, the quail are all still alive and doing great! Their natural quail instincts are officially kicking in...it's about two and a half weeks to eating time!! Still have no idea who's a boy and who's a girl.

The quail are just about fully feathered!! They're in their new brooder now. We're pretty sure we've only got one male!! So we might not have to eat any haha ;). I'll get a picture up as soon as I can.

Aaaaand to conclude our quail hatching story...
By some impossible odds....ALL of our quail managed to be boys!!! They were butchered about an hour ago...so it's quail for dinner either tonight or tomorrow. Sorry we weren't ever able to get a picture up...it's seemingly impossible from our computer.
