It's always a pleasant surprise to find eggs, but with the Marans you get the added joy of finding really dark ones. The Marans I have are not as personable as some, although they will eat out of my hand. It is possible different lines are easier to tame. I have some chicks I hatched from Texas that seem a little calmer and one Roo that I hatched last fall that is nice to me and his pen mates but has attacked my 1yr old hens when he got loose. It has been a learning experience so far. I have 9 Marans to hatch fri. along with 7 of my son's silkies. thanks for the reply!
