I just got a Blue laced red wyandotte splash chick a week ago. I will try to take a picture of Nugget tomorrow. Nugget is still yellow with a tiny bit of white on the wings. I don't know if Nugget is a girl or boy yet. Time will tell!

This is Nugget short for Chicken Nugget. I named him that because he is the smallest of the 5 chicks, but he jumps up into the face of the largest chick which is three times his size and pecks it. I said you are surely a rooster, so you are going to end up in the skillet, so I called him Nugget. I might be changing my mind now after seeing your rooster. What a beauty! I will have to decide who stays and who goes when they are grown. I am pretty fond of Nugget, so he will have to be a bad boy to end up in the frying pan. He has a wild personality!

I just hatched some Black Copper Marans and kept the runt on purpose for myself...thinking...it must be a female to be so small. BUT, she/he has no problem jumping in front of others to eat and being quite feisty. I had a meet and greet with the new chicks and my flock and that little runt took off exploring and jumping in with the hens and rooster, no problem!! Gutsy little chick! Maybe it'll be a rooster...or better yet, a gutsy little girl! ;-)

Oh, and I have about 9 BLRW's in the incubator right now. I'm sure some will be splashes, so I'll post when they hatch! End of month, can't wait!!!

These are my other two. I cut the head off of the one, but you can see their colors really well. One is a Black and one is blue. They seem to be really friendly, but I have a older Golden laced Wyandotte that is really wild. I got her from another farm when she was a month old, and she didn't get much handling. It has really been a challenge to keep her from influencing the others. She seems to be the lead dog except Nugget my splash (smallest chick in the box) continues to try to tell her otherwise. I try to handle them several times a day, but the Golden lace doesn't seem to be warming up too well.
