APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

Hope you hatchers all come join me on the April hatch a long We will have some hatching excitetment.

Set my own Silkie eggs March 11..April 1 st should hatch.Found a stinker already!
Cant wait to see what colors i get
Sonetimes its interesting to list what incubator your using.
I have a Genesis1688.Wish i had a Brinsea
They seem to get the most eggs hatch but this is pretty good. I like the full window and auto heat set..Saves the heat jumping up and down but i still check the temp is accurate as it even can be off when i first start and has.

I'm here!! A dozen BCM eggs due April 4 I think I said but still gotta confirm that.

I'm using my LG bare-minimum.. No fan, no turner, just me and the styrofoam. :p

Sure is! Makes a huge difference in what your next step should be lots of times. :)
 
You must be great at hatching i had a really hard time with my temps jumping around before i got this Genesis.But lots of people do really well with all kinds just not me.
Did find my Hovavbators did much better in my closet than in a corner of my room.
I seriously think though some ppl have a knack for hatching like some do growing things..im not one no matter how strictly i try to do all i should Ive had people get hundred % hatch on my eggs that i get onlly fifty % every time.I need all the help i can get.!

I'll join! I have a variety of shipped eggs arriving the last week of March, so I'll be a bit behind. I hatch with a Brinsea. I love it! It really does take the worry out. I used to hatch with a Hovabator. My hatch rates haven't really changed much since I made the switch (40-75% on shipped eggs, 60-100% on my own eggs), but my stress level has. It's so nice to just put them in there and not worry.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Hatching can be tricky. When you're measuring your success rate, there are so many factors you have to consider. I never get down on myself when hatching shipped eggs. You have no control over how the postal service handles those eggs, so sometimes they're doomed before they ever hit the doorstep. And some folks just have really ideal conditions that make hatching their own eggs easier (stable climate and humidity, draft free house, strong stock, good fertility) It's different for everyone. I do not have ideal conditions. We have crazy weather, a drafty house, and a moody rooster :p
 
I'm in Rox! We've been in a few hatch a longs together right? I'm setting mine hopefully by tomorrow. I just need a new thermometer & run it for 24 hrs to see how it does. It's been awhile since I've used mine. (It's a homemade bator)

Brooster i cant count how many shipped Ive hatched dont dare add all the money ive spent I but positive if you get a roo and hen of a breed and color you want i figure im ahead.Yes ship too hot ship too cold. too bunoy too rough all affects the eggs..but your own? who do i blame it on? haha!
 
Can i join in, even as a newbie?

I had 20 birds last year and unfortunately free range has not been kind to them. I currently have 7 birds left. A pair of Cornish x rocks 5 red sex links and a tsc mystery tetra tint. Im getting eggs from our neighbor as well. He has a big mix of chickens so they're surprise eggs.

Im planning on setting them on the 24th.
 
I'll join! I'm setting eggs this Wednesday (3-19-14) and they will be due to hatch April, Wednesday (4-9-14). I'm setting Banyard Mix and Ameraucanas and I am using the Little Giant Still Air Incubator which works great for me!
 
Great to have you Lin and Phil never enough hatchers and newbies are just fine!
I set my first eggs of the year last week now im about to order Catdance silkies been wantng them for over a year .Do I need them NO WAY!!
That old chicken hatching addiction hits again so I should be setting more in about a week time and fingers crossed for them
They are coming from across the country(Washington State ) to me here in Missouri..

Lin Don't mean to be a meanie but guess it is ... but why doesn't something take all these spare roosters i have instead of ppl who have chickens they want? Im not talking 2 spares ....im talking 10!!! They are every place!

Phil Some people have such good luck with any incubator they use ..... i think they truly have the hatch knack LUCKY People!!Wish it was me .
