First of all, I want to say thanks to the site and the many members who have taken the time to answer my questions. I am building a mirror image of the Wichita Cabin Coop. I bought the design from the original creator of this coop. Let me tell you it was well worth the $5! I just broke ground today and finished laying the foundation. So far $23 in supplies. I'll try my best to keep everyone posted.

Good 1st steps ! Looking forward to your progress.

Looks like your dog gets the "point" lol, any progress on the coop?

Yeah Zoey has done really well considering she's a trained NAHRA retriever! (In other words she wants to fetch the chicks!) Luckily she's contained her urges and now likes to watch over them when they are in the yard. Like I said she's done great with them.

As for the coop, I've got most of the framing studs stained. We've had some bad wind here in the Valley of the Sun the past few days so I've had to put construction on hold for a bit. I hope to get some work done in the next few days.

Glad you had better luck than me with the dog, how does one tell a bird dog to leave the birds alone, he's in when they are out, he would bring them back one at a time. Anxious to see the progress.

Well the wind died down enough to get some work done. Here are some pictures of the progress today. As you can see the ladies came out for a bit to inspect my Wife and I's craftsmanship. Hope everyone is doing well.

Patience is the key! Also realize that you are trying to curve many years of instincts! I introduced her while on the lead with the chicks. Did that for a couple of weeks. And then I made her lay in the yard while the chicks hung out and walked all around her. If she tried to get up I repositioned her back where she was. Once I felt like she was ready(couple days) I let her up to investigate. Now there are times where they are more interest in her than she is in them!
