I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just went to the feed store two months ago and picked up some chicks that were "90% pullet guaranteed". Well, out of the two chicks I bought to add to my flock, one turned out to be a roo. So you could possibly have a roo in with your chicks, but it isn't very likely.

Them pullets that crow turn into dinner

We are slightly leaning towards the dinner option. Wondering how old the roo would have to get before it had enough meat on it to make it worth processing. How old do you let them get?

When my EE roosters start crowing it is time. There is not a lot of meat but an EE is never going to be a meaty hunk. After they crow the hormones start changing the meat quality from tasty to chewy..........

Does this work on all breads or are some tasty long after crowing? I have a wide variety of breeds and I am really hoping all are truly pullets, but I don't have the best of luck. The chick I'm most worried about right now is my RIR. Not sure if she is turning out to be a roo or if I just think so cuz she is the oldest of my group and I don't have any other RIRs to compare her to. =/

I bought 6 chicks in the spring , thought I had hens, now I find out that at least 3 of them are ROOS. I can't keep Roos in the city. Help. :/

You have 3 choices: eat them, give them away, or keep them.

I've had really good luck giving my boys away on my local Craigslist. Only managed to sell a couple of Splash Silkies for $10 each. The rest I gave away.
