she's two
she's laying on the floor with her feet stretched out behind her, she is alert, no signs of mites or anything like that.
She will not get up, laying near lamp
idk where to start. could she be egg bound? worms? infections? how can I tell?

she was eating yesterday. what would be different about the breast bone?/how to tell?
I should say they are in the same coop as chickens - SEPARATED - but the same building, they're only feet from the chickens, but in two years this has not been a problem. I forgot to treat them to prevent blackhead, could black head cause this?

just remembered, a chicken hen got in with the peas about a week ago, found her in there in the morning, I knew she'd gotten in with them the night before but thought my daughter had got her out - I'm starting to think blackhead....

can I just treat her with wormer and antibiotics? or will that hurt her?

oh and felt breast bone, felt normal to me, but I don't know what I was looking for.
did internal exam, didn't feel anything stuck. she didn't seem to mind... is that a bad sign?

This does not sound like typical symptoms of Blackhead ( diarrhea with a yellow color and possibly blood). Try searching Marek's. I know it is a common problem in chickens and can be passed to peas. I have no personal experience with Mareks but if I remember correctly, loss of use of 1 or both legs can be a symptom???? To start, I would worm her, and get her on an antibiotic, since you don't know exactly what it is, you might as well cover all your bases. To check her breast bone, feel the front of her lower chest, the breast bone can be felt in the center with the meaty breasts on either side, if the bone feels bladelike and is protruding with very little muscle on either side she is underweight and likely has worms. Generally you can tell if a bird is really underweight simply by picking it up, if they seem to be much lighter than you were expecting they likely are underweight. I had to carry a yearling around for a while yesterday and he was getting heavy after a couple of minutes, definitely not underweight. Also doesn't sound like Egg binding. Try some treats she likes, see if she will eat eggs or whatever her favorite thing is. And keep us posted.

just gave her sulmet and corrid. just a little bit.
just hoping it helps.
put her under the heat lamp.

Sulmet and Corid both treat coccidia, neither is an antibiotic and neither treats worms or blackhead. Do you have safeguard cattle drench for worming or tylan (antibiotic)? Also, you would need metronidazole to treat for blackhead, but since diarrhea wasn't mentioned that isn't as important right this minute.

I miss spoke, gave her sulmet and ivermectin, I have corid - but didn't give her that.
Don't think she has diarrhea, her vent was clean, did see some yellow loose poop, but it was on the top of her tail, like she got pooped on while laying on the ground.
Waiting to see if the Sulmet n Ivermectin help.
Looking up mareks, thanks you guys :)

Egg bound hens will seem paralyzed and seem completely alert yet not be able to move. Do you have vitamin E capsules? If so break them open and squeeze the liquid out of them. It normally takes about 8-10 capsules and then suck the vitamin E into a syringe that has a tube attached then shove the tube down her throat and squeeze the liquid out. She should,,,SHOULD pass the softshell egg in about 6 hours. I've had this happen last year on two hens of my own. One was a young 2 year old and the other was a 4 year old who never gave me trouble the year previous. In both cases once they laid the egg they were fine and it only took a few hours,,hope this is what's wrong and it helps your hen :)
