The Hen Who Ate Mountain Laurel: CAN Cloudy Eyes Return To Normal [PICS]

So its been almost two weeks since my Hen ate mountain laurel and her face/eye swelled shut (face swelling is not a normal side effect of ML poisoning). I treated her with VetRx and ran her through a course of Tylan 50. When that failed to make an impact I took her to the vet who game me some meds and boosters to feed her as well as had me hold cold compresses to her eyes 3x a day and give her childrens benadryl 2x a day. Other than her obvious issues with her face/eyes she is a healthy chicken who eats and drinks well.

My question is: Can the cloudiness in her eyes ever go away or is this a sign of permanent blindness? I have no issue trying to nurse this one back to health as she is incredibly sweet and will let me hold ice cubes directly to her face and she just coos away, she take her meds willingly and when im done coos gleefully. But if she has no chance of ever seeing again I think it would be best to go ahead and cull the poor girl as she can not live in a small box in the basement forever.

It was VERY hard to get a shot of her cloudy eye but after icing the swelling was down every to open it a little. The last picture is a picture of one of her sisters to show you what she should look like.

Just talked to the vet and she said that the cloudiness can be cause by foreign protein in the eye and could possibly clear up with time.

Hi Maryland...did your hens eye clear up? My friend was given a young chicken by a friend of hers who found her on the side of the road. My friend then called me because there was something wrong with her eyes. Turns out she is a bantam EE with a cute little beard. She's eating and drinking but both eyes look like your hen. I gave them some eye ointment for her but was curious to see if there is anything else to do for her.

Sorry for the late reply but she never recovered, I hand fed her for about 2 weeks and she did nothing but get worse.

Hmm, looks a bit like a cataract to me. She might be just going blind in one eye though. I would make sure nothing nasty is coming from the eye. Have you taken her to the vet yet? The vet can mabye tell you what she has if she is getting worse. Cloudy eyes are not usually a good sign and normally mean she will be blind in one eye.
Please tell me what the vet said or if she is getting better.
