What to do with newly hatched chicks??

It will not hurt anything to set up a creep feeder. You normally don’t have to but it won’t hurt.

Broodies were raising chickens with the flock for thousands of years before electricity was harnessed or heat lamps invented. The broody hen will provide all the heat the chicks need.

Moxies, the youngest I’ve had a broody get her chicks to the main roosts was at two weeks age. Those two week old chicks flew up to the top of the nests, about two feet, then flew three feet horizontal and two feet vertical to get to where Mama was. They looked like they could have flown quite a bit higher if they’d needed to. Most of my broodies don’t take the chicks to the roosts until they are closer to 4 to 5 week sold, but that one went at two weeks.

That's awesome to hear. I have 8 Swedish flowering eggs that I bought, and two eggs from my own flock ( a mix blue amereacana and barred rocks). I am pretty excited

My broody is really good at teaching them. The hatch of 5 being her last one for the season, she wastes no time trying to show them how to do things. It is always amazing to watch her do her thing.
I also have the other separated game hen with her second hatch. They just turn 8 weeks tomorrow, and she is just now starting to turn on them to cut the apron strings. They were sleeping in the nest box up to 2 weeks ago. Now she has them on the roosts. They will have to be integrated into the big flock when she separates from them, as the main flock will not accept her. She lives in her own chicken tractor with her EE rooster.
