This is the place to post your roosters resumes! And, of course, pictures that we all can drool over. I am new to chickens, by 2.5 years. And i am impressed by what I have learned about chickens,.....and the roosters they love.

Here are 3 of mine....... " Papa"

He is the head rooster of a flock of 10. 7 hens, 1 co-rooster and one cockerel. He is a Plymouth Rock, small and compact like a chihuahua. But he's the Boss. And nobody messes with him.
But he has excellent rooster manners. Not aggressive. Always on the watch for hawks and dogs. Knows how to show his ladies how to go into the coop from the people doors to lay eggs...when they are out free ranging.

"Lil' Brother"

He is second in command. Same hatch as "Papa". Also a good rooster with a non aggressive personality. He helps "Papa" free range the ladies, also is allowed to crow....sometimes..

.....and sometimes get's to mate with the hens. He is reminded of his status in the pecking order occasionally though. If "Pap" thinks "Lil Brother" is getting too cocky.....he is put in his place.

"Stripey"

Barred Rock. 9 months. He is currently in a breeding pen with my one other lone Barred Rock hen. Hopefully, to make some BR chicks. He is currently a rooster in training, seems to be learning, but does occasionally revert back to his teenage boy habits. I.E. ...stealing treats from his hen. But he is a good rooster so far. Non-aggressive...and only wants to challenge and fight the other rooster in the other breeding cage. I don't have his picture yet.

Anybody else care to brag on their good boy roosters?

Anybody else? Care to show your roosters? They tend to get such a bad rap...and some of them are well deserved. I have several residing in freezer camp at the moment. Waiting their chance to be invited to supper. But the rest.......can be little gold nuggets!!

None of these guys had names, they're all processed now. Barred rock/EE/leghorn/wyandotte Barnyard Specials!

These guys were s slw and a glw crossed with a bsl rooster...they were rehomed

This is currently my only rooster! I don't usually name them, but as all my guys here lobbied to keep him, (and they're the ones that butcher for me lol) I figure he may stay around a while. I call him Eric. Best I can figure his father was a barred Rock/EE/leghorn mix, and his momma was a Welsummer. I'll probably hatch out some of his chicks with a barred Rock hen for sex link babies and see if the pullets lay any darker than usual eggs.

Thank you donrae!..for your contributions!! I don't usually name mine either...but I learned the ones that get to keep their heads are easier identified if they have names.

And the roosters have to prove their value and worth to me by exhibiting excellent rooster skills.

Very few of my hens have names though. Just the "keepers"...... the ones who hopefully can go broody...or already have.
I have just noticed that too many roosters get the bad rap. Of course.....some give that bad rap to themselves....... some of my previous named roosters are in the freezer.

Roostersandhens---are those chickens in your house!?

(if so, I don't feel so alone LOL!)

Donrae--that last rooster looks exactly like my little cockerel!
