First hatch with janoel8-48-will keep updated!!

I am currently running 3 of these units and other than having to double and triple check the read outs on the screen - don't believe them whatever you do! - they seem to be quite reliable and work well. We have one that has the 80W motor and clear plastic bottom, we found the turning trays in that bent if it was full of big chicken eggs (Wyandotte etc) and stopped turning properly.

We strengthened it by riveting thin blades of metal to the sides of it and now it works great. Also found the clip that attaches the turning trays to the motor managed to slip out of its groove - easy to slide back in, but it does pay to every now and then check that it is turning as it should be.

I find the other 2 units that have the 160W motor hold their humidity much better, but they are so hard to see into with the windows at the top showing nothing but the motor. So we decided to use the clear plastic one as a dedicated hatcher and incubate only in the other two.

I have 2 of these with the clear bottoms and so far I love them! Running my 5th hatch right now with some choc orps in one. Is there any way you could take a picture of the metal blades you attached to the turner?

Hi Val, as below! Hope that helps. I can take some more in a fortnight when the guinea fowl eggs come out of that incubator.

Thank you! I wrapped a blanket around mine this time and the humidity is staying pretty steady now. I made sure not to cover the vent holes in the top. Do you remove those rubber vent plugs at lockdown?

Hi Val,
I keep a blanket around the bottom of mine but don't worry about the top, those vents stay open right the way through seemingly without problem.
I am now using the clear base from my 80W unit as a hatcher with a 160W top on it, it is holding 72% no hassles and the clear base means we can watch the chickies emerging with no hassles.
