Neighbor's dog killing my chickens

I feel somewhat qualified to weigh in because I've just finished my first year with my first border collie puppy! Wahoo! I'm used to having sweet casual chill off leash dogs like labs and retrievers, but this puppy was a challenge. She ran with her nose and she could outrun me! We have about twenty acres of woods and fields. So, bummer, she got walked in those woods and fields on leash. For six months. Then, sometimes off leash and sometimes on leash, and treats for coming to "here" and treats for passing something that is a "leave it!" Then no treats, just the expectation that here, come, leave it, with me, this way, you little idiot, have become part of her vocabulary and are useful for both of us. There may be some years in the future when I would trust her to hang about the place without my supervision, but that would be many years in the future.

What I'm trying to say is that love is training. I like her companionship so I'm enjoying putting in the time. I care about her well being, so I'm trying to help her learn to be off leash safely. I want her to survive so no way am I taking any chances with her life.

My Jill. Is there a spa weekend for people who have finished their border collie puppy year? There should be.

I love training to. I train my family's dogs and my parents co-workers dogs. I love seeing there faces( the dogs) looking up at you like what do I do next. Lol.
