Hey Scorpiochick They are lovely. Be sure to keep lots of hidey places so hawks can't get them. I'm using the top of a dog house right in the middle of the yard.

Thank you Twocrows, Yes they are healthy. Its funny we have a green bowl we put food scraps in and literally I open the back door, which goes straight into the backyard.They KNOW the green bowl.Its hilarious they will coming running from the other end of the backyard. They are entertaining for sure!

Though, my RIR boy RJ, would probably give the stink eye for saying this. He thinks he and his girls are the prettiest around. Which they are lovely.
And that includes the broody, her 7 chicks, and the 9 lil' spoiled babies I raised in my brooder. ;D

Hey Scorpiochick, It depends on that type of predators you have in your area. Lot's of dogs, raccoons, etc.? Research at top of page "how to predator proof your run or coop" I'm fixing mine like Fort Knox. I have a 7' x 12' dog kennel. Laying down tin panels on ground around the coop to deter diggers. Putting 2' or even 3' hardware cloth around bottom of kennels to deter raccoon hands from reaching in to get sleeping chickens. Night time is the important time but I would check out spots in the yard to safe guard. One BYC buddy put 4 cement blocks upright and laid a piece of paneling on it so chickens can scurry under. Lots of research. PM me any questions.
However, I have a neighbor 1/4 mi down the road. She has 4 dog kennels side by side. And does nothing. No top, no tin no hardware cloth. Nothing. Never had a loss. We have a lot of raccoons in our area. One tried to get our 8 lb cat. They have hands and the mentality of a 3 yr child at opening doors, fences, whatever. On your coop put closures high enough and sturdy enough that they can't just click it open. Nasty lil devils. They will kill all your chickens because it's fun....
If hardware cloth is too expensive look in your areas for wire shelves from old fridges.
